Under the general direction of the Chief, Logistical Support Internal Branch (SSM II), the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the Asset Management Unit. This includes direct supervision of professional level staff with program responsibility over Cal OES Asset Management administration, and mail room distribution at the Public Safety Communications location. The SSM I is responsible for the effective resolution of a broad range of governmental and supervisory problems and policy and procedure implementation related to property control and mail services.

The SSM I must have specific knowledge of state and federal Property Control and mail room practices. The SSM I shall have detailed knowledge of asset, property, and mail room policies, procedures, and practices; excellent verbal and written communication skills, follow oral and written directions. The SSM I will be responsive to the needs of the public and employees of Cal OES and other government agencies; analyze situations and take effective action using initiative, exercise open-mindedness, flexibility, and tact and the ability to multi-task, and accept change. Must work independently.

During emergencies, will be responsible to provide contracting and procurement services, resources and logistics support for the State Operations Center/Regional Operations Center/Joint Field Office, which may include nights, weekend, and holiday work.
