To do this, we conduct research, a great deal of which is done through clinical trials in humans (known as human subject research). There are many federal requirements that all research institutions must meet in order to conduct human subject research. We have an outstanding, dynamic, and growing group of researchers, administrators, and office staff ready to assist. Provide clinical research support for multiple studies over multiple specialties.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Data entry into Microsoft excel or access and may also include data abstraction from the electronic medical record into an electronic data capture system. May be required to learn the electronic medical record system. Check the temperatures of the freezers and refrigerators and maintain an accurate log. Orient new research assistants.
  • Ship blood or specimens in accordance with regulations. Learn how to handle biohazard materials. Screen eligible patients in the electronic medical record system. Answer office telephone. Maintain a study file or binder.

  • Schedule future study visits. If trained, accurately measure height, weight, and vital signs in the clinic. If trained, safely draw blood for study laboratories. On certain occasions, can be asked to report during weekends or even after working hours. Help other personnel if needed.

  • Run errands in the office, the university, and the hospital. Able to maintain patient confidentiality. Work with students in the conduct of a study.

  • If needed, will be trained in aseptic techniques in the Operating Room but limited only according to the research protocol. Might travel to an outside health facility. Audit other research assistants. Properly store study medications.


Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research; OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university; Knowledge of lab setting designing and executing research protocols, collecting and analyzing quantitative data, developing and maintaining scientific databases in a lab setting and/or immunohistochemistry, histology, and in situ hybridization as well as Western blot and RT-PCR assays; CCRC, CCRA or CCRP certification is highly desirable; BLS a plus; Completion of Citi program (learner group 1 FDA regulated research).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work as a team player. Attention to detail and good laboratory practices. Ability to read directions for experiments with understanding of the results.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Pay Band: B5

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
