You are the right person for the Regional Planning Intern position if you are a detailed oriented person with exceptional multi-tasking skills and a desire to impact the Triad. The PTRC is the lead regional organization for the 12 counties of the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina. The Regional Planning Intern will assist the Planning Department with a wide range of activities spanning water resources, transportation, land use, recreation, environmental and mapping. The activities will give an opportunity to work with multiple communities in our region. In a fast-paced, creative and collaborative office environment, the intern will gain valuable insight and experience across a broad spectrum of government functions. Additional duties may include a food system support, grant writing and other special projects.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate for the Regional Planning Intern would have either completed a BA/BS in urban planning, transportation planning, public policy, public health, or geography; be currently enrolled in a graduate planning program; or recently completed a graduate planning program. Applicants pursuing a BA/BS in the same fields may also be considered depending on experience and course work. Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS, skilled in research and survey methods, and knowledge of research processes and statistical analysis and interpretation, public administration and governmental interrelationships, and health and safety as it relates to government functions would be ideal. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment, various software programs (MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud) and oral and written communications and interpersonal relations will be essential in this role. A skill in graphic design and communication is desired.# If you are selected to fill the role of Regional Planning Intern, you will need to present a valid driver's license, pass the pre-employment drug screen and background screening process. Travel may be required on occasion. Hours worked are flexible up to 24 hours per week but not to exceed 1,000 hours annually.

SALARY RANGE: Salary is $15.81 per hour. Generally, 24 hours per week and not to exceed 1,000 hours annually. FICA and EAP services only.
