Position Summary:

The Preventive Controls Coordinator must focus on weekly HACCP & Hold compliance and will aid FSQA Manager and FSQA Supervisor to enable their focus on FSMA prerequisite compliance: sanitation improvement programs, environmental testing & determination of cross contamination sites, root cause and corrective action for holds, and specification compliance/feedback to R&D. Rapid investigation, retesting, and follow-up to enable rapid disposition within customer shelf-life needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily verification of documentation for critical control points (extruder temperature & metal detector) to ensure compliance with HACCP critical limits and frequencies as required per the food safety plan on pre-shipment review.
  • KPI-HACCP compliance documentation broken down by CCP & shift.
  • Issue and investigate HACCP deviations to determine root cause and eliminate reoccurrence.
  • Ensure any corrective actions required are completed and verified.
  • Release finished product after HACCP & quality compliance assured.
  • HOLD necessary product, tabulating hold file for KPI compliance.
  • Work with Lab Supervisor & distribution to ensure follow-up rechecks completed for hold product and disposition/release completed.
  • Aid in updating required SOP for HACCP.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Workplace Safety:

  • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies
  • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries

Quality & Food Safety:

  • Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements
  • Preserves the integrity of the GFSI system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined.
  • Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies
  • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the GFSI system.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the field.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a quality role in a food manufacturing environment
  • Completed PCQI Training (Animal or Human Food)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HACCP and GFSI schemes
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Able to work with cross functional departments within the organization
  • Strong problem-solving skills and corrective & preventive action/resolution skills
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Access, Power Point.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Able to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints and within budget parameters
  • Well-developed written and oral presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functionally
  • Demonstrates positive attitude and takes a proactive approach
  • Sees challenges as opportunities and translates them into actionable tasks
  • Energized by fast-paced environment
